Famous speakers[]

I've been told by more than one person that General Colin Powell speaks Yiddish. It might be interesting to identify some famous Yiddish speakers, especially those who aren't Jewish or aren't expected. As the article points out, the ability to speak Yiddish can affect a politician's chances in NYC. LaGuardia spoke Yiddish (and some other languages), and some of his success was attributed to his ability to speak to some large minority communities in their language. It's more of a side note for this wiki, so maybe it doesn't belong in the article. -- CocoaZen 17:11, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

It seems to be reliably confiremed that Colin Powell has some knowledge of Yiddish, although he doesn't speak it fluently at http://www.snopes.com/glurge/powell.asp

On the subject of non-Jewish Yiddish speakers, here's an interesting little article
