Golda Meir, 1943

Golda Meir was the fourth Prime Minister of the State of Israel from 1969 to 1974. (She was the world's third female Prime Minister.)

She was born in Kyiv (May 3, 1898), grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and with her husband made aliyah (moved to Israel) in 1921. Ms Meir played many roles in the creation of the State of Israel. She died in Jerusalem, December 8, 1978.
